Were rigid tool covers always smooth leather, or sometimes 'map case-style' pebbled?

    hi gear guys.
i would welcome any info re the use of leather types for entrenching tool covers rigid model.
were they ever made in pebbled effect leather, like typical mapcases, or were they always smooth?

while on tool covers, did the folding type 2 cover always have the metal angled bottom corner, or were they sometimes just leather?
    many thanks in advance

    Hello,
so far, if i remember well, i have always seen smooth leather ET carriers, never pebbled leather like for mapcases (not mentioning pressed cardboard carriers). But i haven't seen everything. Same thing for the V shaped metallic part at the bottom of 2nd type folding spade carrier, i guess if it's a 2nd type, it must have it. I have seen unfinished 2nd type carriers, not stitched yet, but they already had the metallic part added...but who knows...
