Orange Hautentgiftungssalbe & brown bottle question

Hello fellow collectors

Ofcourse everyone knows the orange bakelite Hautentgiftungssalbe as pictured on the left.



But what about the brown bottles as pictured on the right

Is if for weapon decontamination as pictured in the "Gasschutzleitfaden" or does it have another purpose.

The bottles are marked on the underside as can be seen on the picture



Markings are: maker mark eor
then: Art. Nr. 38 D 3513 Form Nr. 1
and dated: 1944

Also the have an extra closure as can be seen below


Ofcourse I'm interested if anyone knows the meaning of the text underneath and if it was used for other purposes then "Waffenentgiftung"

Hi,
Do you mean a gas decontamination cleaner for weapons or a cleaner for other purposes?
If, as you say - and I've read this before on a forum - it is corrosive, then why use it on a weapon or do you have to rinse it off afterwards?
Sounds like a lot of trouble!

Decon vials

The dark brown vial is for personal weapons decontamination. Corrosive may make you think in terms of acid or acidic. The solution is actually heavily chlorinated, like a strong bleach. Not quite as damaging to metal in the time needed to decon a weapon and then reapply proper oil. The solution will however burn holes in cloth and rot rubber very quickly.

Hi Mike,
Many thanks for your concise and informative answer.
Two years ago at Beltring a German guy selling motorcycle spares had a load of the brown bottles still containing the fluid.
I bought a couple and did try to use the contents of one to top up an empty orange bottle. As it turned out, the orange one, though mint with 100% label (original), must have a tiny leak somewhere as it slowly emptied - thankfully not over anything else!

Decon Bottles

Interesting about the guy at Beltring... There was a huge cache of these bottles (full) that turned up in the Jersey Isles a few years back. The seller offered me the lot, but knowing the potential effects of the fluid I did not dare buy them via post.

I have stated this here several times over the years.. do not store this stuff, or full Losantin tablet containers inside your gasmasks or near anything else of value. You could pay a high price for that someday.

Thanks for the confirmation, I thought so as well, but wasn't sure...
As mentioned before, the "Gasschutzleitfaden" gives a very detailed use of the weapon decontamination, but ofcourse is in black and white, therefore I wasn't sure if it was the brown bottle, although I suspected that much.

@ Wesleys dad: didn't you have the big container as well with the contents ? I do have the container, but unfortunately am missing the contents
