Field Telephone just arrived

Maybe it's all the memoirs i've been reading but i've just bought my first ever item of field gear, a field telephone, and i couldn't be happier.
What a great item, looks like i'm going to get addicted to field gear now, on the look out for a gas mask next.

There's something written on it that's driving me mad, thought it might be Russian, but it's not. A search of the word brings up a couple of Slovakian websites, someone else suggests it's Czech, if anyone can help before it drives me over the edge
Not sure whether it's Poziarka or Poziavka?

Came with these straps, does anyone think they were originally with this telephone?
If not, are they genuine WW2 manufacture?

I think this means "Fire Stattion" or "Fire Brigade" in Czech/Slovak.

Someone said that Poziar meant something like firestorm in Czech & seeing as the Czechs used these after the war your reckoning seems like it could be spot on.
Looked back at the website that came up with that word & it's a Slovakian website showing a Fire Brigade open day!
At last i can rest a contented man!

Nice FF33 and welcome to the world of field gear

As to the straps: get rid of them, not original !!! as far as I know no webbing straps were used for Field Phones. Doesn't mean they don't exist, I just never encountered an original strap.

The strap you're looking for is entirely brown, and sometimes dated on the pieces that "click" on the phone

Hi Tom!
I those phones of yours. I guess they work? I like the extra attachment the receiver is on.
I would love to find the right straps for it, i didn't think they were right, but they do fit.
Can you recommend any good dealers for field gear as most of the dealers i use are for medals & daggers.

Unfortunately while the phones are easy to find, the straps are rarely seen. One strap costs more than two phones usually! Here was one, but as I see it is already sold. At least you can see close pictures, to know what to look for. I bet there are fakes of these staps, too

Thanks Bernhard That would make some sense.

Now for the word Poziarka - I remembered that someone i know travels the world heading conferences on teaching English to foreign students & also writes books on the subject.
He got the following information from a student who said that she thought the word was Slovak or Czech, she contacted a Slovakian friend who gave the following meaning(s):

*_Požiarka:_*

1. - blaze: Blaze away ( at the enemy)

2. - fire – small fire, or be under the fire in war

3.- conflagration, conflagrate

Conflagation according to the dictionary mean "Great & destructive fire"

We're pretty close now, we have a Slovak & possibly Czech word on a FF33 with Czech army straps.
Fascinating stuff.
