Finally found a M39 Egg Grenade

I've been on the look out for a long time for one. Apparently they are fairly scarce in the US.
Anway one of my buddies is breaking up one of his manniquin displays and is selling off some of the equipment that was on it including the egg. Now it's mine

A 43 dated body and 44 dated fuse cap which is not uncommon and is acceptable.

Shown with my two stick grenades, Ray

totally agree. all 3 examples are sweet! the 2 potatos are matching heads/sticks. always a plus there. egg fuse has great paint left also, nice and bright. all this talk of food is getting me hungry! theyll look great on a display. Glenn

Thanks fellows, here it is on display. The only thing I can see that I could attach the egg to with the ring is a button. I did see in a book where one soldier had them hooked on to the bottom of the straps of his K98 ammo pouch. Doesn't seem a good idea as not very convienant if you need ammo in a hurry. I know they made the ring for a reason but where else could they attach it to. It does seem to stay on the button fairly well but not sure if it would in movement like running, laying down etc., Ray

Jens, tiny holes so it's the thread. Ray

I found a photo in a book that shows the egg hooked on the breast pocket like I have only it's on the button and the flap buttoned over it. I think that would secure it sufficiently. Ray
