Wehrmacht Lug Wrench? Please Help me on this one

I was going through several boxes of dug relics found in the area between Kaiserslautern and Sarrbruecken and this piece caught m eye. I was about ready to throw it into the pile going to the scrap metal bin when I noticed it was stamped in the center on both side with the makers logo and D.R.G.M.

Could this be Wehrmacht issue or just a period lug wrench. Also in the pile was a VW hub cap that was also heading to the scrap metal bin, looks sort of like field grey paint on it so I thought I might as well send in a pic since this is my day to post "strange and unusual" relics.

I would be interested to hear your thought on these.

I cant coment on the lug wrench.

The hub cap may be very early post war...I thought that wartime VW logos had the cog souround "kdf logo"........I could be wrong...???

Either way I woudl not pitch them. Scrap here is 15 cents for ten pounds. I think they would be worth more as simple vintage antiques than the 5 cent Euro piece you would get for them as scrap.

I think I will give the wrench a good cleaning and see what happens. I am certain it must be TR period or earlier.

I was not sure either about the hub cap. There was a good mix of war relics mixed in with post war stuff that is also found in the wood. Since I did not find these myself I can only speculate.

Rahsol Dremotec seems to be the current subsidiary of a large toolmaking firm in Germany today called Gedore, since the 1970s according to the toolmakers website. This company makes along with other things, torque wrenches.

I would have dismissed this as a simple cast-off accessory, but for thinking about the acronym "D.R.G.M."

Following that thought I discovered that D.R.G.M. possibly might stand for " Deutsches Reich Gebrauchsmusterschutz" which was a common industry marking that in English translates roughly to "Patent Number", and literally to "German Reich Registered Design" used in Germany prior to World War II. Normally a number sequence would have followed the D.R.G.M., but not always. Some metal toys and tools, I've been checking out have the D.R.G.M. marking but no number following it. These marks are supposed to date to the 2nd quarter of the 20th century, meaning late 1920s to 30s. The mark shows up a lot on German antique metal objects and jewelry.

P.S. - BTW Vet44 has a post on what looks like a Wehrmacht toolbox....in the pics those tools all have DRGM on them, too...hint, hint....

I own the same wrench (Radkreuz) in better condition. It is no special Wehrmacht piece, but a nice tool from the 30's--keep it!! The beetle wheelhup is made after 1949 'til 1957 for "Brezelkäfer" and "Ovali" (after the KdF and CCG area of Volkswagen)
