does anyone out there have any ideas on the right way to go about restoring an essen behalter?
having picked up a rusty one, i'd care to take it up to display standards...two lid bolts on one side have sheared so should also be in for some part replacement...
enamel inside also a little time worn.
should i start going over it with a steel bristle brush and clean off the rust, or as i feel that might be, is this a sacriligious act on a beautiful classic piece of landseer kit?
it was made by Geithainer Emaillierwerk, info here...http://www.geo-geithain.de/geschichte.html
the name Grassler und Schmidt is also featured on the front of this iconic two handled food container.
and would anyone suggest where date stamps may be found?
anyone with pictures of their own food containers are welcome to post them. in fact, ive got a real appetite for starting a behalters thread and seeing some dished up for a good goggle.
thanks.
