    MP41 leather pouch - is it ???

    Hello guys !!
for a long time I was thinking that this type of pouch:
    http://lmd-militaria.com/page221.html
is a typical MP41 designed one, just like here:

Now - the problem is that this brown specimen for TT is made in 1939 - thats too early for a MP41 to even exist..

so what truly was this pouch designed for ?? was it a first pouch for MP38 ??
when the typical MP38u40 pouches as We know then where intorduced ?? - what are the earliest specimens ??

could it be that this leather model existed as a MP38 pouch .. and later - propably when MP40 was introduced - new model of pouch was designed - cheaper made of canvas ??

I am askinf this questions because this is what postman delivered few days ago:

                Pierre !! - here is a MP28 pouch:

                http://www.militaria.litzmannstadt.o...s/sale/137.htm

typical 20 round, I know there were larger magazines for MP28 and MP35 - but is this it ?!
I know that MP18 had a 32 round snail mag and MP28 had a 32 round stick - is that it ?? - was this pouch ofr MP28 32 round sticks ?? - why no other specimens and pictures of these pouches with MP28 - only with MP41's ?

On the picture from the first post - both guys with these pouches in question carry a MP41's - only guy on right has a MP28 and He has no pouches visible

                  Hello
Regarding the pictures , my guess is , that is only what was available to them since they are not front line troops , priority to the FL soldiers.
My guess , would be for the bergmann , since the mag are pretty large , and would fit perfectly in that pouch , if you have some of them , try them in and see how they fit .
That would be my guess or ?
                  Regards

My pouch came with 3 mags for the Mp34 Erma, and included 3 magazines that had clearly been there all the time. It was also accompanied by the Erma itself.........

I can not really tell for sure, but pritty confident they were 32. The pouch is at the bottom of a box in the moving-mess!
Here is a earlier thread with some pictures of the pouch and mags (detailed photos are long into the thread). The pouch has clearly seen use with the Erma mags, as they have left their specific marks.

                          thats a great thread !!!
thank a lot - seems like those mags a wider than standard MP 38/40/41 - that makes sense now !!!

I would assume then that purpose of this pouches wewre high capacity mags for early MP's - MP28, ERMA, MP35 etc

BTW - this thread is another proof for deadhead stamped gear !! - including a stamped holster !!!
