request info on large wooden medical box

    Hello guys

I found this large wooden box. I doubt this is a german ww2-era medical box.

Color looks original brown on the sides, except for the topcover which has been repainted feldgrau(?). Handles and other metals parts are painted black. The red cross is painted but is not a typical german wartime red cross (has a yellow border too). No markings found so far. There was once a label on the inside, but it's gone. Interesting to see inside is a holder for some kind of large scissor.

Is this a post-war box? Or is it post-war reissued? Maybe wartime but another nationality? Could it be Italian WW2?

Thanks in advance for your help!

    Cheers

    Jan

          Jan,
I found 2 boxes which were similar to yours here in Belgium. A red cross was also painted on, in the center. Both had their labels inside describing their contents and were WW2 dated (do not remember the exact date). One, in my remember, had a white write which said it belonged to a german medic officer. Sizes were about 1m X50 cm. Bouyoulagleize purchased me one and could supply more info or pics. Hope it helps. Pierre

            Hello Jan and Pierre,
that's not exactly the same box that you found for me Pierre, yours was a Sanitätkasten.
The one that you show Jan,I never seen one before.

Thanks Pierre and Fred for your input!

I know what kind of boxes you mean Pierre...The so called standard Sanitätskasten. But those are, like Fred stated, not the same.

This one stays unknown for me. It could be well a (pre)wartime box, but I strongly doubt it is german. Especially the brown color of the box and the yellow and black borders around the red cross is something non-german.

              Cheers
