Shell/fuse holder???

Hi Guys, can anyone id this for me please? I know I have seen these before, but I do not know what they are.
I picked this up in Southern France earlier this year. There is a Waffenampt marking and a small makers mark. I think that there was once a leather or webbing strap attached by the two alloy rivets.

Approx size is 4" long by 3" wide at the widest point.

that is from the internals of a shell case holder, that is the bottom part that sits within the frame work

Hi Gary, I thought that you would come up with an answer for me Many thanks!
Am I right in thinking that the main part of the frame, the four uprights, are made of wood? Reason being, we did not see any other metal parts lying around. The parts we found were all on the surface, so wooden parts may have rotted away.
