    New Zealand Militaria Show Today

    Hi All

    There was a militaria show in Auckland today that I got to do a display in along with a friend. Here are some pics of the Kiwis & Germans "somewhere in Italy"

    We were lucky enough to have the use of a decent backdrop.

    best,..Robert

          Hey Robert, awesome displays, the material used is really great!
          I know Italy can be cold, but are you sure the Gremans used winter boots over there? Just a question, further great display!
          Greetings Peter

            Hi Peter, good point & I am not sure. They are the only boots I have that fit him though!

                I heard a story about a paire of these boots being worn in the heat of the month of august near Nice, France. A german had been killed in a bunker, and his body was then lying beside the road. Here is the vet interview:

                " He had been on the Russian front, and had stuffed boots, worth a fortune back then. And one guy who lived at the Baumettes wanted to take them. And my friend, Dominique Baling went: “Hey Merlot, if you touch those boots, you are dead. The bullet is in the barrel, and there is a full loader behind it” “Yeah, but…” “You leave that alone, it’s not yours. It will go to the Town Hall, and they will do what they want with them”. It’s to tell you that were weren’t… We could have profited from the situation, we could have been rich.<o =""><!--[if gte vml 1]><v:shapetype id="_x0000_t75" coordsize="21600,21600" o:spt="75" oreferrelative="t" path="m@4@5l@4@11@9@11@9@5xe" filled="f" stroked="f"> <v:stroke joinstyle="miter"/> <v:formulas> <v:f eqn="if lineDrawn pixelLineWidth 0"/> <v:f eqn="sum @0 1 0"/> <v:f eqn="sum 0 0 @1"/> <v:f eqn="prod @2 1 2"/> <v:f eqn="prod @3 21600 pixelWidth"/> <v:f eqn="prod @3 21600 pixelHeight"/> <v:f eqn="sum @0 0 1"/> <v:f eqn="prod @6 1 2"/> <v:f eqn="prod @7 21600 pixelWidth"/> <v:f eqn="sum @8 21600 0"/> <v:f eqn="prod @7 21600 pixelHeight"/> <v:f eqn="sum @10 21600 0"/> </v:formulas> <vath o:extrusionok="f" gradientshapeok="t" o:connecttype="rect"/> <o:lock v:ext="edit" aspectratio="t"/> </v:shapetype><v:shape id="_x0000_i1025" type="#_x0000_t75" alt="" style='width:11.25pt; height:11.25pt'> <v:imagedata src="file:///C:\DOCUME~1\HP_ADM~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\msohtml1\01\cli p_image001.gif" o:href="http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/forums/images/smilies/tongue.gif"/> </v:shape><![endif]-->"</o><o =""></o>

                  Hi Glenn

                  unfortunately, pretty much run of the mill. I managed to get an MP40 mag only.

                  For everyone else, I forgot to add to my original post "Somewhere in Italy" came about because we thought the backdrop looked a bit like Monte Cassino where NZ forces were. The canvas has on the back "A bombed Spanish village" & was obtained from a TV station prop sale. The columns came from the "Hercules" & "Xena - Warrior Princess" sets so all in all, a little "Dramatic licence" was used.

                  The guy that loaned them has a lot of this type of gear, & I think next year its NZ Mounted Rilfes. (So I wont be in that!)

                  It was a bit of fun too.

                  Best,..Robert
