    Winter felt boot question

I was reading a few threads on winter felt boots. I was looking at a pair of mine. It has the rear straps, and internal pull straps. The brown leather shows they were definitely worn. But,.... the bottom has rubber soles (although worn). They have some sort of metal nailing along the edges. They are marked continental, and has what appear to be some Russion? lettering also. If they have rubber does that automatically make them Post war?

    Thanks in advance,
    Jeff

    Hello
From what you are describing ,the boots themself are original. Regarding the rubber on the sole ,it could be either period or post-war replaced. If you have Russian Markings on it ,I suppose they captured it and just used them.
    Do you have some pictures?

      Hi Pierre,

Thank you responding. I will take some pictures within the next 24 hrs and post. What I did notice was that the soles appear a little loose, so ,maybe you are right and they were re-soled. I got them in a flea market in Germany probably 15-18 years ago - didn't pay very much for them.

      Regards,
      jeff

                    Looks re-soled to me.
I'm collecting anything related to the towns Castricum and Bakkum during WWII.
Also soldbucher from 116pzdiv. And 1944-1945 eastfront pockets, kampfgruppe and Oder front.

Thanks Rick. I think so to. Do you think the boots are original WWII? Is the re-sole material WWII or post WWII? All comments are welcome.

                        Hello
Well your boots are nice original ones.
But these soles were installed post-war.
                        You could restor them.
                        Best Regards
