I never saw that type of buckle before. it might be a post war strap. or just a plain repro? Kuligow or Pierre, your thoughts? Glenn

          Hello
Well ,I am not sure but that square sewing on the leather strap ,is not somthing I have seen on German pre 1945 manufactured straps ,either leather or web. It could be post-war .
          Regards
          Pierre-Yves

weird one... - buckle looks like pants buckles (side straps on pants to set waist).
check for stamps - should be on the bottom of leather strap...

I have a similar buckle on a brown webstrap that i bought years ago together with a original mess kit ( and this MK and the strap were inside a " Fallschirmtragetasche " )! I think it is WW2, maybe special LW production ? But I don`t think it is German Bundeswehr, BGS, NVA or something, they had different buckles, and they don`t use this brown or yellow webmaterial.
And Pierre-Yves, you find that square stiching on leatherstraps that were sewing on fabrik, like the messkitbag in the " Tornister ".

              Regards

              Dirk

I believe this to be original, though it has an odd buckle and black leather support strap (normally these have brown support straps). Likely late war?
