    A mess kit ...

    Hello all,

    What do You think about this mess kit? Is it Germanic or not? There aren't any markings ...

      Are you sure?
      I resently got one to but i thought it was russian.
      I found no markings. the outside is green and the inside is grey.

      I'm collecting anything related to the towns Castricum and Bakkum during WWII.
      Also soldbucher from 116pzdiv. And 1944-1945 eastfront pockets, kampfgruppe and Oder front.

        Yes ,it is German and late war.
        Are you sure there is no markings anywhere ? usualy ,these are poorly and barely stamped.

          Pierre is totally correct about the markings, typically you only see the first half or last half of the stamp. Glenn

              Sometimes these are unmarked. I believe these are pre-1945 German issue.

                Mine to? hmm oke thats nice, no markings on mine to.

                  original unmarked messkits are not so common, but when made of steel and painted olive green, there's no big issue, WWII...I own a messkit made of steel with initials and unit engraved, but the previous owner surprised that there was no MM, made a scratch above the handle and finally dug out the MM, AEMA 43. Soft stamping and thick olive green painted made it invisible

                    according to the pics sent in your first post, it appears to me that your messkit is not painted steel, but enameled steel, and in that case markings are very often invisible because they are covered during the process of enameling. What a shame it's not complete

                      Yea its enameled steel, only paid 5 euro's for it though.
                      Gonna use it on my bike, with a strap on it you almost don't see a part is missing.
