Does anyone have an example or photo of the holster for the double barrel flare guns? I am of the understanding that the holster was mounted in the plane and constructed of bakelite. I've never seen a photo of one, though. Thanks.

          Jack,

concerning the LW ones I think, but again I could be wrong, that they came without a holster as they were put directly in the pocket of the trouser (I have diffilculties to believe) or probably directly in a case with flares on board of a plane . Remember, FL # means they were flying equipment

this pistol was taken from a Battleship{vets words} in Kiel as there were no real battleships there at the end of war was it the Admiral Scheer or the Admiral Hipper which i believe were the only capital ships there at the end,
pherhaps someone knows who the captains were of these ships as it came with a dagger which might point to which ship it was.

Superb merdock! KM flare pistols are very desirable. Do you mean you would get into trouble for having it?

              Regards,
              John

Francois, look at the top of the tip of the two barrels of your double barrel. Do they seem to show a bit more wear than around the rest of the barrel? Reason I am asking goes back to the bakelite holster. What I was told was that every one of these will show a bit more wear at the top of the end of the barrel. This is caused by the continuous slipping of the gun into the fixed, bakelite holster. I'm attaching a photo of mine for your reference. This was told to me by a fellow that used to collect flare guns. But, again, I do not know if this is true.

Sorry I didn't see it before
Top of the barrels is on the bottom of the pic

When you look at the aluminium version you can see a diffrence in colour on left and right side, the right is much more gold like while the left is more redisch brown.
Does anybody know how this could happen?

                          leuchtpatronentashe

Although not as nice as the one showed here, I've seen price around 100 $ for one ( a wooden box ful of them) on the show in Bethune, in the north of France, last year. The same guy selling these has also a table at the Ciney-show. Most were dated 1941 and all seemed to be in good used condition.

Does anyone has a 'patronentashe' in canvas or leather that they would like to show?
these are the only 2 flare-patronen I have . maker eby, dated 44.

                          cheers
