Francois, yours is very interesting. Weimar proofed as well. My barrels are waffenamt proofed with a "4" in a circle directly above. What do you make of the exact same serial number on it for the FL? From the same flight group????

FL # are used for one kind of item - flieger
Each kind of items has a FL #: guns, watch, pencils, flying instruments .........

So FL 24483 was for flare pistols used by LW flying members - a specific # by item but all the same flare pistols had the same FL #.

Some great flare guns!!! Here is one of my favorite flare pistols. It has very early construction, but late finish. And, it is "L" marked. I think John has one like this too. Would like to know who used this one, as I have heard many stories.

Got my photos mixed up. That was a very late LP42. Note the odd finish on the barrel. The hammer is made from sheets of steel, then cut out. I hope this one is the one I discussed above.

Here is mine, nothing fancy but the only one I've got, marked Wa35885 with some original casings (missing one shorter one from somewhere). I understood these never had a holster issued, correct?
