They were using that prestoff leather as early as 1941?

The straps are in leather and the case is in cardboard press, that's not unusual in 1941.
Compare with the marching boot, long before the war and short in the beginning of the war.
                    Leather restriction I think.

This is an first model carrier. Did they made first models carriers with artificial leather ? I aways thought that first model carriers were always made from real leather.... ?

Above said; this example looks good to me.

                        Hello Gentlemen,
Pressed cardboard was autorized from 1938 to replace leather. Some makers used it right away, some others waited longer. I used to own a first type carrier made of cardboard and dated 1940 in mint condition.

This one is gone in a trade with another forum member. I'm quite sure that he'll read this post, so maybe he could send a pic...
About the one shown here, the belt loop is repaired
                        ciao!

I agree with JPhilip. I also have seen presstoff first model carrier made in 1940 . I don't think that the belt loop is repaired ! It simple change made by soldier at front or by Norwegian army after war ( this shown one is from Norway ) . Normaly belt loop has steel stud but it had tendency to slip away and that's why it has been sewn with oter part of belt loop.
