I am more used to a pronounced "D" shape to the ring, or the rectangular "ring" for use with assault straps.

If these are original, I would believe they are late war web gear and not DAK era.

I have canteen straps with leather belt loops, dated 1943, and they have D-Rings, so it could be " Africa ", but it also could be `44 or `45.
