    Mysterious equipment markings!!

    Hello All!!!
I am very familiar with the letter codes and WaA##s but I have something that baffles me totally. Equipment marked with S.U.W.W. with a ReichsAdler and Su21 beneath it in place of the WaA.
Any ideas on who or what these markings would belong to?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Chris

    Hello
The first one is the maker.
The second one is a normal Wamt related to equestrian equipment as it appears we are seing and talking about a sadle here.
    Best Regards

Correct, this is a saddle. But, I have never seen anything marked with an "Su##" and I have had my hands on some kavallerie gear. Can find nothing similar to the makers' name/ code.

The saddle on the left is the one in question:

        Hi,

This isn't leather goods and I don't know if it is pertinent to your question but here is a link to a rifle hand guard with a similar marking.

Great link!! I think we may be onto something here! I also had found something similar at http://proofhouse.com/cm/codes_markings.htm

that said: "SU ## S.U. followed by a one or two digit
number under an eagle stamp represents
          Simson/Ulbricht, Suhl, Germany and is
          usually found on Luger reworks."

I know this is for weapons reworks but... must be this is a reworked saddle?
Is it possible that the "Su" instead of a WaA was used on reworked goods?
          Is S.u.W.w. code for Spandau?
Leon, I really appreciate the link, Dont know if it answers the question (actually brought up so many more my head hurts now ) but it opens up interesting thoughts.

            Chris,

There is a big controversy among some collectors at to what the SU means. Some say it is the first and last letter of the rework facility location (Spandau). Some say it is the first two letters of the location of another rework facility (Suhl). I don't have a dog in this hunt but it is an interesting debate.

A major arms researcher that I know feels the SU stand for Spandau. Maybe we will really find out some day.

I have a K98k bayonet that has the SU marking on it also.

            Regards, Leon

              A bayonet? Really! What manufacturer?
I have been looking for info on the whole reworking angle but, like you can probably guess, Nothing. I did, however, find a German government-published list of ALL companies that were documented to have used slave labor.
              Very interesting!!
You ever get around Lake Texoma, look me up, I know of some great Treasure spots, collecting wise!!

I have the exact same sadle

Mine has HLV 42 stamped on it (also the eagle and the '3's)

What is the value of these sadle's?

                Regards Marcel

                  Hello Chris,
IMO you should remove the NVA stuff rolled on the saddle on the left...
