Nice, i have a lid to one of these which i picked up in the woods a few years back. I guess the lack of 35 or 40 means the ammunition could be used in both weapons, which were basically heavy mortars.

@Simon: the difference between ammunition for those 2 mortars was quit large, infact it's impossible to fire a "35" with a "40" and vice versa.

The 10 cm Nb W 35 was a normal muzzle loading mortar, the 10 cm Nebelwerfer 40 however was a breech loader, it's shells had a shellcase fitted to the tailsection.
