    K98 Ammo Pouches on eStand

Of the two K98 pouches on eStand, the top one has a feature that I haven't seen before. The stitching is vertical (this is by itself is not typical for German K98 pouches) and is riveted . Any thoughts?

      no problem with these.
I have some similar as these for about 15 years in my collection.

Hmm. I've owned dozens of pouches, but never seen that before. They sure look original though. Must be just an unusual variation.

          Hello Gentlemen,
no problem at all with that kind of configuration. Stitching can be horizontal or vertical, with or without rivets. I've seen a pair of ammo pouch with two horizontal rivets between two horizontal stitching.
          ciao!

Thanks for the feedback, I'm always learning something here. I usually avoid pouches with vertical stitching but now I know better . I seem to recall Yugoslavian pouches had that pattern as well. The RBNr on the pouch in question is 0/0570/003. Does the vertical stitching on K98 pouch straps show up with other manufacturers? If so, what do you have?

Aren't the riveted pouches late war?

                Hello Rich,

this is what I have, it is stamped bdt 43. You see vertical stitching not that often, hope to find another one so I'll have a nice set.

                regards Peter

Rivets on the lid straps is a late war feature on K98 pouches. I'm not sure what year rivets first appeared on the lid straps.

Thanks for posting the pictures of your vertical stitched pouch. Now that I know they exist, I'll have to look more carefully. Nice one
