    Web frog and matching bayonet.

    Hi guys,i want to share with you my find today' find .
    A well worn web frog 1942 dated with a well worn k98 bayonet with matching number 1936 DATED and S/177 on the blade and on the scabbard .

                        nice blade Martin but that trop frog... very nice. great markings. you dont see those to much with markings still visable. great catch. Glenn

                          Hi,
                          it looks like the bayo was first numbered 6851 before being renumbered 6857.
                          is it a factory mistake or a slightly mismatched bayo renumbered for a matching set which means more value ?
                          we know that sometimes bayos were mismatched in the stocks, on the field etc...mismatched but very close concerning markings : maker and year are the same, but numbers, and sometimes serial letters, are differents.
                          S/177 : Friedrich Abr. Herder und Sohn, Solingen (if my old files are corrects)
