    Truppenfahrad colors question

    Hello,

Were truppenfahrads all painted black. Or were they painted other colors by the soldiers themselves. Would a camo pattern been possible?

    Thanks

    Hi
There have been a couple of threads about these bikes, just type bicycle into the search option above!
    To quickly answer your question:
They all started life as a non-shiny black but were often camo'd to suit the environment they were used in!
    Have you bought one?
    cheers

I have a post war model I am working on. I have collected a few accessarys for it including the ammo can that goes on the crossbar. I collect and reenact as a Luftwaffe Field Division Fusilier.

Thanks for your input. I believe I will go with a camo paint scheme . The dark yellow/tan as a base coat then reddish brown and dark green. The unit I portray was the 16 LFD which was in Holland in 1943. Then moved to Normandy July 1944 during the Invasion.
