      Gents,

Seeing these rucksacks I was wondering if this red cross I found in one of my Verbandkasten would be for one? Or would it be for an armband?

IMHO post-war civilian made from leftovers.

          Carles,

Don't know for what it is or if it is pre-45 but I strongly doubt it was used on a rucksack/tornister. Looks totally different then the ones used normally.

Small update on piece of medical equipment :

A period booklet stated and confirmed that these rucksacks were delivered together with the more common medical tornister ( backpack ). The booklet is dated 1936 !

As most of the known ruksacks are all dated 43 and later, it is rather logical to think that these are late(r) war issued.

It would be great to find an earlier dated example to see the differences in material used.

Also concerning possible contents, it is clear now that they could have been filled with whatever medical kit was needed at a certain moment, so no official packungsordnung was available.

            Regards,

              Hi Jan,

Interesting thread you have started here -I, for one, really need to get my hands on one of these..

Anyway, as new infor for the thread, I have this original (!!..yes) manual H.Dv. 208/6, "Packordnung des Satzes (a) Truppensanitätsausrüstung". It is dated 1937 (!!) and please see the attached scan of the text regarding the rucksacs.

So, even by 1937 they were part of the inventory.

              Best regards
              Hans Kristian

Allow me to bring this thread back up. Mainly to see if (newer) members can add more information and/or examples.

Most rucksacks so far seem to be made in 43, it would be great to see pre-43 dated examples!

I ask this as 41-42 dated manuals stating that these rucksacks were delivered together with tornister/backpacks. Rather logical thought as 44 produced tornisters are no exception.

No new information on possible contents has been revealed by me.

              Regards

Ah, sorry, did not see that you already had a text from 1936.

Thanks for your input Hans Kristian! Now we can all start looking for pre-war ( or earliest dated ) medical rucksäcke
