    Mundlos cleaning kit

Recently aquired a 1939 K98 tobbaco tin clueaning kit marked Mundlos. Appears to be complete with 2 brushes, and chain with "M" stamped on one side and small waffen on other side, oil bottle stamped 39 Mundlos, bottom has cotton cord, case has brass clasps. and really good drab paint.
Is this the same manufacture of bayonets and sewing machines?
    Any idea on worth?
Also have G. Appel dated 1937, same condition. Really only need so any help in this area would be appreciated.

    Mundlos rg34

Yes, the Mundlos marked rg34 cleaning kits are from the same firm that made bayonets and other items in Solingen. Mundlos kits are not uncommon and are frequently encountered. Complete matching pre-war kits are becoming scarce to locate. The M marked chain (M for Mundlos) is correct. Unfortunately you are missing the floor plate tool (many kits are). In very good condition a rg34 like you have described could bring anywhere from $30 to $45. Hope this helps.

Thank you very much. I read someplace that later period kits came without the
magazine tool. ANy truth to that?

Some will argue this but I am strongly of the opinion that all rg34 were issued with the tool. Maker marked tools dated from 1935 to 1945 have been observed. Some have postulated that late in the war the tool was omitted. I disagree with this theory. It is certainly not uncommon to locate an otherwise complete kit in which the tool is missing.

An exception to the "all kits with tool rule" are the small caliber (5.6) cleaning kits for the KKW training rifles. Period reference material clearly indicates that these rg34 were not issued with the tool.
