    Last one.

Both shown together. Note the differences in shapes etc. This design actually dates from WW1.

Design differs a LOT !! Thanks for pictures Ade !!!

well here we go - I guess we have another small mystake in Angolia - its a german pickaxe in the book - but because it was lacking markings - they assumed its captured ....

I would love to see other pickaxe's like this one to compare...

Hi Mike, I will see if I can get my Brit collector friends to photograph theirs. A couple of them are members of the forum.

Bear in mind tons of British kit was captured at Dunkirk.

        Cheers, Ade.

          Gr******252;******223; Gott Michael,

I think I have a Pionier manual which has scale drawings of the pick and case. I'll look for it and scan the drawings then post them here.

              Pioneer Pick Axe

              Mike,

Good score on that rig. I was watching it on Ebay but held out for the other Pioneer items that where up...Pouches ect. Its funny the seller listed it a week earlier with a buy now price that was the same as the opening bid and no one touched it.......

I will post some pics of my short wire cutters pouch this weekend.

I will also post some pics of my latest pioneer pouch...that yes came from Ebay.

                    French too

I would add that French Army used the same tool during WW I and WW II I think it is called "outil Seurre" and it is something like model 188. or 189., I will try to find this year, the design is exactly the same than this German one, in fact I was thinking that German used French captured stock but I discover they had produced their own !
                    Thank you !

thank You very much Patrick !!

too bad we still dont know if wire cutter carrier was also used to carry this pickaxe - I would say YES - we have only two examples so far - mine and in the book - both with same cover...

                        List,
I too was watching this item on eBay. I bid on it the time before as well but the reserve was set for $175. and I would not go that high. The last time he listed it, he wanted $125. buy it now, but me being a smart a$$, put in a bid for $124. Well I lost it, now I regret not pulling the trigger and throwing in the extra $1. It would have looked great displayed with all my other German Pionier gear. Best of luck with it Kuligow!! No hard feelings here.

                          hello Guys !!!

now I have a 99% proof- this is not an accidental use of this pouch for pick....

these vere designed to hol either a pick.. or wire cutters

today I got another pouch with pressed in shape of pick.. - its a late war black leather this time..
I cant find any markings - could be removed on inside part of flap...
