Sanitätsverbandzeug

Hello

I have just purchased a dny 1944, Sanitatstäsche Zum Unhängen. The contents label says that it should contain a verbandzeug, to be held in the upper compartment.

My question is, was the verbandzeug for use only by Sanitats NCO's, which is what I have read on this thread and others? If so, that would mean that the Sanitatstäsche Zum Unhängen was for NCO's only? Is that right?

That does not make sense to me, so I just wanted to ask the opinions of more experienced sani collectors'.

I can only confirm that the verbandzeug on itself (so not part of another tasche) was delivered to medical unter-offz. This information is from period manual.

Thanks for the reply. Yes, I see from the period manual scan you provided that that was the case, so that is clear evidence. What I am guessing is that as the war progressed, the verbandzeug was also issued to non-unter-offz, based upon the contents list of the Sanitatstäsche Zum Unhängen (unless we think this model tasche was issued to unter-offz, which I don't think we do).

Does that seem reasonable?
