Wh Issue Gebirgsjager Hut And Climbing Shoes !!

Just thought I would share some photos of 2 of the rarest pieces of footwear I have ever seen. The ones with the leather bottoms are hut shoes (worn in mountain huts). They are dated 36 and unit marked to the 10./G.J.R. 99. Light canvas and leather. The second pair are climbing shoes, I would suspect for extremely difficult climbing up sheer rock faces. They have a thick soft pad on the bottom and are dated 1939. This is the first time I have ever seen either pair. Comments welcome.

    Best,

    Gerard

Gerard, you solved a mystery I'd been wondering about for years! The Militaria Magazine book on "German Uniforms of WW2" shows an Afrika Korps EM wearing the shoes you show on the left. Knew they weren't DAK books, always wondered what they were, figured either fakes or camp shoes.
      Thanks!!!

            Jim,
awesome color photo of the climbing shoes being worn and used! Here are some more indepth photos of the climbing shoes and then the hut shoes. (laces were added by me and did not come with the shoes.)

            Enjoy!

Here is another pair that recently surfaced. Since a fellow forum member may have beaten me out of them. I will let him come forward with details. I think they were slightly mismatched but still.... The seller pissed me off or they would be mine! They were the climbing shoes..

                  Berg heil kameraden,

Here is a great shot with varied Gebirgs kit to include a pair of climbing shoes- check the man with no shirt and suspenders over his shoulder!

Also note the crew cuts on the guys in the left background- very unconventional? Maybe not!

Just researched these pair of shoes purchased today.
looks like the same type of climbing shoes as above.
                    What do you think ?
