    Wooden Box?

    Hello,

I was wondering if anyone could tell me what this box is for?

It was given to me by a mate a few years back, who said he got it of his Grandfather, who unfortunatley had repainted it .

Im guessing it has something to do with Ammunition? Fuzes maybe?

    Any help is much appreciated,

    Cheers
    JK.

    "40 Stück Zündladung A "

A Zündladung is a Gaine, the initial charge used to let the main charge of a large calibershel explode.

So it once contained 40 Gaines : Type A.

      Thanks

      Thankyou for that,

I have not heard of the term "gaines"?
Im guessing it is another word for fuze? No?

No, the fuze is the mechanical part of the fuze chain.
The Zundladung A is a aluminium cilinder, 77x24 mm, filled with (from the top of my head) Fp10.

The fuze set's of a percussioncap.
The percussioncap sets of the gaine.
The gaine sets of the main charge.
