    Is a gasmask canister stamped?

I just bought an empty gasmask can. But is it stamped and if so; where would the stamp be? Maybe a small waffenamt or something?
The only thing I see is a capittal D on the bottem of it...

    Thanks!

    Hello,

I believe the D stands for dicht --> waterproof. Not completely sure but i think it is correct

About the markings. If i'm correct there are often markings in the box were men can put spare glasses in, it should be pretty visible. Also the strap to close then cansister often shows some markings.

See for your self and let me know if something came out

      Hello

      Tex is correct.
There should be 2 visible stampings. One on the latch ( usually FRN) and one on the top of the spare lenses lid ( not always visible ,but it should be there). You will see a WAamt ,mainly on mint or lightly used cannister.
      hope this will help you.
      Best regards
      Pierre-Yves

ya know, I really dig gasmasks and their cans. I know they were thankfully useless but when I think of a German soldier (even as a youngster) the gas mask can was always part of the mental picture. even "Star Wars" storm troopers had a cannister that resembled the mask case and how they wore it too. yep, cool pieces them masks. Couldn't agree more! My first (and most treasured!) item I ever got was a gas mask + cannister.

There's just something about them that I can't explain.....
