    Gebirgsjager Jacket Insignia

Was curious if any sort of badges or rank insignia were ever worn visibly on the gebirgsjager windjacket or anorak.

    If so, which?

    Thanks

    Yes

    Hello
    Welcome to the forum !

The answer is Yes ,insignas were worn on some anoraks and parkas ,mainly the cammo rank insignas ,or as they called them "Dienstgradabzeichen an bekleidungsstucken ohne schulterklappen " ( schulterstucken). These were the only insignas autorized on uniforms which did not have provisions for shoulder boards. These insignas were adopted in August 1942 ( #742 on the 22nd of August 42)
Before that ,I believe that ,from original pictures ,some GBJ worn the Eldeweiss.
Hope this will answer your question.
    Best Regards

      GJ windjacke

The GJ windjacke has provisions for shoulderboards. The previous poster's answer regarding use of camo sleeve rank insignia has to do with parkas
      (anoraks in UK English) only!
Question: could the double breasted "windjacke" wind breaker mountaineering jacket have been worn with a gebirgsjager edelweiss?

The windjacke was definitely worn with shoulderstraps on occasion.

Answer: Yep, but it's rarely seen in pictures.

            Hello
Generaloberst Dielt ,worn the double breasted " windjacke" with such a sleeve insignia and no shoulder boards ( a little modified due to his rank). So yes they were worn on both ,but rarely on the Windjacke ,as seen on period photos. For the parkas ( or anorak) only the sleeve rank insignias were authorized.
