    flashlight / torch question

    Hello!

Is there anybody who can tell me more about such a "covered" flashlight?
Every reply is more than appreciated! Many thanks in advance.

      Hi Gerd,
I've not come accross a cover like this before - can we have a couple more pictures, such as the rear and closure tab?
      Regards,
      Mark.

Im with Mark. I never saw a cover for a torch either. when I was in the market for mine I did an advanced search and there was alot of good info from other members, no covers though. but I did PM a few of the Guys who were into torches as can be seen from their personal pics they posted. you might want to PM these certain individuals and ask, they might not be looking at this thread. cant hurt. Hard to say...

            Gerd,

I think it is very hard to help you !
For soldiers a lot of Flashlights are private purchase, yesterday like today !
I have some German WW II official text about lights and battery but there is nothing very useful for us to help to identify the different example !
Therefore a 1938 note say that ligths had to be ask by unit from Signal Parks so I think that before this year most of units used to buy light in the civilian shops around their place ! Perhaps it is one of the reason of the wide number of models used in the first years of war we can see on period photos !
About your example, I feel it could be a german one but a WW I model and the cover had a "trench" (perhaps field made) spirit for me !
But it is more philosophy than fact and proofs !
Too finish I find it very unusual and interesting !
Sorry for my english and hope this help a little bit.
            Amitiés de Laurent
