    thoughts on un matched grenades?

hey Guys, Glenn here. I, as everyone, am always looking for matching makers marks/dates but I have also heard from various people that "untouched" grenades dont always have matching makers. that they were sometimes produced in different factories then stockpiled and put together at a different location hence different makers codes on the can/handle. does anyone else have any references that would help to prove/disprove this statement. I really would like to know as there is a nice "brb" dated handle that is on a different makers head. this piece was supposed to be brought back directly by a vet from a very trustworthy source. the condition of all components are identical in wear and shape. no doubts of its authenticity. I just want to know if this could be a "factory direct". any information on this would be greatly appreciated. or if you could point me in the right direction of a web site that specializes in grenades. thanks, Glenn

Hi Glenn, this is an interesting point that I have wondered about as well. I have 2 grenades from a US army engineer. He brought them home with some other things. I bought everything he had, including other deactivated ordnance. Both grenades are non-matching. I always figured when he deactivated them maybe he did a bunch of them and mixed up the handles and heads. His family said all of that stuff had sat in a duffel bad since the end of the war and were never touched. I like them very much even though I normally collect only matching items. Hopefully someone can comment on this.

Ebay grenade, complete fake. I would stay away from that seller he is a fraud. He is the same person as the other user that gave him his first feedback, from Odessa and Hollywood Florida.

That grenade looks funny to me...some things look just ok and other things reek of reproduction.

This seller I think is also this guy or they are related some how????

            recolleta aka cara-la-sol.

So the whole thing smells. Take a look at his other items..they are all like new and in mint shape...what are the odds on that???? the K98 cleaning kit takes the cake......

I can remember this cara-al-sol charecter selling the same stuff a few months ago...all like new and sought after...and getting good prices!!!!!

I may be wrong but wasent this grenade discussed awhile back...?????? someone was asking about the markings on the handle???

totally agree. GARBAGE! yeah, I was looking thru His stuff and saw everything He has is mint. the K98 cleaner is a joke. looks like a shiny new car right off the lot. I saw He has a '43 dated gas cape too but I dont like the way it looks although He doesnt show any details anyways on it. I asked for detailed pics of that and another piece but havent heard back from Him. I will pass on this guy. Glenn

If you want to be a real cheeky bugger you can bid on the item and then retract your bid.

Ebay will ask you why and you could post that its a fake.

So if someone looks at the bidding history they will see the reason you retracted your bid............

Maybe this will help keep someone from getting stung too bad..

Great idea whsammler! I knew that grenade was too good to be true. His k98 kit isn't even the right color. How about the bayonet it looks a little to mint to me.

whsammler take it easy! its not good someone is getting taken but all we can do is just learn from someones mistake it happens to all of us at some time or another, but some mistakes cost more $$ than others.....

                          Pao,

Im very unhappy that someone was shelled out almost $600.00 for a bogus grenade.

First off its going to artificially inflate prices.

Secondly some poor schlub just spent that $$$ on a fake that they could of put on a real one.

So im not celibrating..quite the oppisite.

wow, I seriously never thought someone would purchase that at that amount. check out the buyers screen name. by the sounds of it He should know a good one. I stand by my first thoughts and say this piece is . if it is good by some crazy chance I still wouldnt want it for it would just always be controversial and the headaches wouldnt be worth it. I know where I can get a few 100% untouched vgc ones for that amount and/or less... plain crazy Glenn
