    Wooden ammo crate

    Hi,
    Have come across a wooden WH ammo crate. dimensions: 700mm x 300 x 250
The inside is intact with 2 paper stickers looking as if they were stuck yesterday.
The outside is dirty all over and the metal parts are a bit rusty.

    The overall condition is good.

Anyone has an idea about how much it could be worth? (bought it for 2 beers)

    Wood ammo crate

    Mat,

Pictures whould help with alot. The WH used so many diffrent types of crates during WW2.

They also recycled crates ect that no longer where being used for their original contents. They would relable them and put them back into service.

I have a few in my collection that have been "pressed" back into service.

I will try get you some photos tonight once I get home from work.

Good price on the box by the way.

      Hi,
Here I found exactly the same crate:
      http://www.germanmilitaria.com/Heer/photos/DH130.html

Mine has two paper stickers inside with the same "invalid" German word.
The inscription "5cm Wgr...." is barely visibile as the person who sold it to me used it as a step or place to keep some heavy tools on.

Anyway, what do you think of the price now?

        Hi,

Here are the photos of the crate:

Do the 2 decals mean it was 2 times re-filled, used in the battle and then withdrawn?

        Rgds,

        Mat

Sorry but don't look WWII authentic WH to me. They would look better in a fireplace.
