One pair that of boots that I posted was really not mentioned in the replies. Can those members with experience (Michael, Glenn, David, anyone?) give me their opinions as to the second pair as well? (photo below) Are they a pair of original, wartime EM jackboots?

now as a illustration how a "textbook" EM boots look a like - a small example - boots I have a chance to obtain right now - straight from Polish attic.
these are typical german EM boots - not too tall - with very chracteristic style, narrow heel horseshoe, untouched for many many years.
heavily worn - showing replaced hobnails etc. they also have stamps on the sides... and have size stamps inside and outside...Attached FilesLast edited by Kuligow; 05-30-2006, 04:32 PM.

Quite a lesson on Jackboots!
If I understand well the EM boots seem to have a shorter shaft which is 2 part as well as not having such fine features.By that I mean the real boot looks thicker and wider, the boot tip is rounder and rises higher from the sole.
I noticed problems with the quality and type of stitching as well as the type of hobnails.
Am I correct in this assumption?
Is it true that from 1942 boots were no longer made in black?.
If boots have no markings on them, does it mean that they are exclusively custom made?.
Does anyone have felt/leather winter boots to show?.
I look forward to posting my pairs and letting the keen eye of Glenn and Michael tear my dream boots apart.
Take heart Will ,it seems this hobby is fraught with traps as merchants take advantage of our interest.I have bought my share of junk including those horrid Cz. "Y" straps for a small fortune.
