    Messkit with interior

    I just picked this messkit up,but the kit itself is not so interesting,but the messkit inside has an extra interior,which can be taken out,has anyone here seen this before,i have not.

      I have seen those extras in Postwar BW mess tins, and always thought those were not period.
      See what others say.I may be wrong.

        You might be right about the interior,but the messkit itself are WWII,the top is marked RFI40 and the bottom CFL40,so it maybe its a mix up.

          better look for marking in interior part. postwar have always marker mark and date. my friend bought once orginal II WW meskit from 44 and inside of it was exacly the same interior part as in yours. His interior past was marked ESB 56. Better look carefuly for markings on it.

            they kept useing the mess kits post war, I have seen many war dated kits with the post war inserts come from the surplus sales.

              I had a closer looks at the interior,this is unmarked,but I believe this is postwar,if they existed in wartime,they probaly would have been marked as the messkit.
              Anyway thanks for you help.
