    A Frame or A Fake?

Surfing Epay this AM and came accross this

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...MEWA%3AIT&rd=1

Looks a bit suspect to me.

It looks like it was "sanded" or took a few turns in a cement mixer to give it the "worn" look?????

It also looks like it was wrapped in a wet blanket to rust up some of the hardware????

    Opinions?

Sunny and warm here today in the GTA so im going to ride to work. The car has been put away for the season.

Its a reproduction made from Czech webbing. Nice aging job, it looks way more beat up than the one I've reenacted with for 12 years now. While he didn't say it was fake, he didn't say it was original either. Just its a German A-frame...

Well, I have dealt with him in the past, but I was only looking for reenactment stuff. At the time he didn't try to claim the Wachbattalion boots were original - just selling them as what they are - german dice-shakers. Good man to deal with. But one must always read descriptions carefully. Some folks call a fake thing real. Others just don't say at all...

I still keep wondering how the fakers do this time after time.
the aging looks very cool but still like already said its a fake.

when they say we do the aging for reenactment this kinda aging is only to bring confusion by the unknow collectors. reenactors muts use new material with ( like some trousers ) no markring, looking cool from the outside and from the inside Yellow of baby blue....

            Blame it on the czech........

My idea about these repro's is simple, the czech have a serious amount of very good copy's and they are being sold 85% as originals, the whole European market is fled with these, helmet's WWI and WWII,equipment, uniforms all you can imagine, they usually sell a bit under normal prices and since "the real stuff" became so hard to find, they just supply a demand.... Most of the dealers i know sell this czech stuff too,it's good bussiness but destroying our hobby! But what do you do when a 19 year old "collector" wants an a-frame but has only 50$ to spend..
the same goes for caps, people over here still think a panzer M43 cap with insigna should cost about $200...I had an original for sale for 3 years and sold about 7 repro's in that period...Give the people what they want is the new tradition on militaria fairs, good stuff gets sold in other ways
Normal if you consider the great demand and the very small offers there are..
