Ok,I have one more question pertaining to the number painted on the gas mask can's. In a nut shell,what the heck does the number signify???? Are the Sodaten numbered,like a personal number for each individual man? Also,how high would have the numbers reached? If this question involves to lengthy of an answer,just try to break it down as best you can. Could someone please help explain the reason and some history behind numbering the gas mask canisters? The # on the can was the soldiers #. He got this with the issue of his I.D. tag.
