hey Guys, Glenn here. I just picked up this zelt rope and tent pole and would like to hear your thoughts on them. I was told zelt ropes were originally dyed black but with time ofcourse washed away. this one is obviously unissued. I have it pictured here with another zelt rope I own which still too does have remants of black dye. both are made of the same type hemp and have the same diameter as well as black dye. heres the thing. the black one is pretty much 6 feet long whereas the washed out one is half that lengh. whats up with that? I heard they actually are about 6 feet in lengh but then again I was told they were 3 feet also. is this true. does anyone know what the standard measurement for a front liner was? is one for a bigger tent than the issued size? as for the pole, it looks all good. just wondering if anyone ever ran across the maker. it is marked "b(?)ra 43. (?)=I cant tell if its a "b" but I think it is. any thoughts/comments on this matter would be greatly appreciated. thanks, Glenn

Un peu de théorie...
Glenn,
From official text only the darker one is good for me if 6 feet = 2 meters.
Heeres-druckvorschrift 205/1 fom 20 April 1931 say that the Zeltbahn 31 come with a Zeltleine 1892 2 meters long and 4 mm diameter. About color I can't remember if this period text say something I will take a look as soon as possible... Eric Lefevre a french author say that this rope should be black I have a mint one that is dark blue or dark gray ...Therefore all the very short rope I have seen on Zelt or pole are clear ...
Another mystery ... One more..
On the field I am not sure that soldiers paid to much attention to the color and length of their rope but for us I think that a 2 meters long in dark color is better ....
Amitiés de Laurent
