period flashlight battery?

hey Guys, Glenn here. I was wondering if any of you knew if this could actually be a pre '45 flashlight battery. I have one already but it is a different maker and once again I dont even know if mine is pre '45. is there a way to tell or did they change the style after a certain year (post war) any information on this would be greatly appreciated. thank you, Glenn

Hi Glenn, your battery is definately pre 1945, I would estimate its production between 1938-1942. On its backside label there is also the price shown "RM0,35" which stands for 0,35 ReichsMArk. The Reichsmark prices ended after WW2 and totally in 1948/49 when the DM (DeutschMark) entered the market. So your battery cost was 35 Reichpfennig or 0,35RM. You can still buy these style of batteries here in Germany and use them with the old WW2 flashlights ! Hope this helps-

Nice battery Glenn , can you post some close up pictures of the two labels I would like to remake them in Corel (the Duracell label looks ugly in WWII flashlights).

All the 4,5v batteries should have two conductors, a long one (-) and a shorter one (+).

The 4,5v batteries, the most common in German WWII flashlights, are still produced by Duracell.

Glenn as promissed, here is one type of a Wehrmacht issue battery marked as property of the Wehrmacht made by "Zeiler". I found it even inside the matching Zeiler made and marked flash light !!
