Hello, well honestly I have some serious doubts about these trop. ankle boots. I wish I would have a real pair and I only know 2 original ones here in private German collections and they are different than these. I remember 3 years ago a French seller named "Nicolas Beraud" from Aix-en-Provence who offered exact a pair like these and a friend of mine bought them, later it turned out that these were made in the Czech Repuplic and there was a chance of buying more of these. As you see on these boots they are aged very well on their lower section, but on top they appear to be "minty", the Czech seller who had all the other pairs told me that they put them in water and "other treatments" so that the soles and nails + U-iron look somehow 60+ years old!
Also Mr. N.Beraud (the French Seller) used to travel a lot to Prag and came back with many items !!! Anyway for an all original pair I would be willing to spend 2000EUR and the last 101% real pair which was sold here in Germany from one collector to the other went for 1750EUR 1.5 years ago, I also had the chance to buy them, but I wasn`t fast enough....Sorry to say so, but these boots here are definately not what they should be.Original tropical ankle boots are IMO more rare then 2nd model para boots !

Well,I think the pair in question is a original textbook pair.

As a note,I've seen quite some worn tropical boots that were very clean inside and outside.

I also have seen some fakes, some are good, but they still miss certain features originals have.

Here're some fake pairs of shoes.

            The shoes in question..

Watch them closely and you'll notice the differences.
            Absolutely genuine pair IMO.

                  What a coincidence..
For those who study small details, here's a scarce picture of a pilot wearing exactly the same pair of shoes.
IMO there were a few different makers of these shoes, but these are spot on.

                      Hi all,

I would like to profite of this thread to ask something to the experts: Do you know LW tropical shoes with only 7 pairs eyelets that are good? Maybe on small sizes?
                      Thanks in advance

                      Cheers

This pair has 8...,and I've seen them with 9 for the bigger sizes, never saw them with 7,but I can imagine size 26 = +/- 39/40 or smaller had 7..
A lot of pics are showing very small guys,so,there must've been very small size shoes too.

                        Jos.

                          Hi Jos,

thanks a lot for the infos. Here's my pair for review: a small size but with the traditional 8 pairs of eyelets.

                            Guys,

I have had these for a long time and this seems a good time to post photos of them. HERE IS WHAT THEY ARE NOT: MODERN FAKES. I also doubt they are some postwar manufacture, although Manny was sure they were postwar Czech Production, but considering they came from a house in a tiny secluded village in the ex USSR and very far away from Czech, I doubt that. But what they are I do NOT KNOW!

Pictures attached and more to follow this post, any help with the mystery will be greatly appreciated.

                            Thanks,

                            Thomas
