    Uffz Gear Questions

    My Grandfather was an Uffz in the Infantry and I was wondering what kind of equipment he possibly would have been issued with? would he have still used his kar98k and have had the 2 magazine pouches or would he have been issued with a machine gun and pistol? Also would be have been giving binoculars? Finally one more question was every soldier giving field dressings? Any help would be grateful

    Hi Pat

    There are a lot of possibilities: until late war Uffz's were carrying the 98k, but ofcourse a MP38/40 would very well be possible. furthermore I've seen pictures of NCO's with map cases, wire cutters etc etc
    Binoculars are a good possibility (6x30)

    Furthermore I would give him a compass, and a whistle

    As far as I know every soldier had the bigger and small field dressing
