Yeah, straightaway it screams out "czech webbing" to me too. Run, run away fast! It would be OK for a reeancator, but not in your collection.

Thanks all for your constructive comments.

I did have some concerns, but I thought that might have been down to the price I paid for it .

If only I had found you guys 2 years ago, it would have saved me money (and embarrassment)

      Thanks again.

That's why I've decided to share my little knowledge in the field with other members here....of course....there's a little price but for a guy forking out a grand for a set of old trop Y-straps and an A-frame (often fake...the both of them!),there's a family that would get feed for a year on that dough.......and the details I unveil are neither found in books nor shared by the "gurus"!!!
A little warning on the (in)famous "Czech" webbing.....many people talk about "Czech" webbing all the time(poor Czech...sounds like they're the 21st century Neapolitan counterfeiters!) without knowing for sure whether that piece of webbing is really Czech or Austrian...Czech parachute webbing harness webbing (the one that most looks like WW2 German webbing to the untrained eye) has been used often, but so has WW2 German webbing from other harnesses, stretchers, belts(not waistbelts!) and stuff.
The webbing your A-frame is made of is more "convincing" than the loosely-woven,floppy webbing used in the first fakes, and the inner stiffeners made with steel strips have been swapped for others made of horn, cardboard or hide...like in your case.
You'd better focus on other details which again...nobody ever unveil here, fearing an "unauthorized" use by crooks or simply because sometime he doesn't know where to look at!

                And to close.....

                Hi all,

                Just to close this off.

I spoke to the dealer who I bought this item from and whilst he didn't agree with what was said on this post we can to an agreement and I have received the majority of the money I paid for this item back.

At least I can now start looking again. (And I was just a bit too slow to spot Manny's one on e-stand! )

                Thanks again.

                Ian.
