Y Strap opinion please??

Hello. I just picked up these straps in a trade deal. I have never seen marking like these before...has anybody else? It seems like the "1944" was added later?? I cannot read really what the oval mark says. Not sure. Some of the metal fittings are marked "D&C", or nothing at all.

Any comments would be greatly appreciated! thanks!

Thanks all, very strange, in every respect with these. Are they post war or just not german WWII?? They look like no German WWII piece of equipment I have seen...which isn't saying much. They are very well made with heavy leather though.

it maybe these are good straps but reconstructed (restiched) and upgraded with some stamps - I would pass - not a honest item...

exactly, why put a RBNr # to hide the location of the factory but then stamp the factory name on it anyways. no, this is contradictory. Glenn

Hi Guys,
I thought I would put in my 2 cents.

I was the guy that traded these straps to Brian. I will admit, I am not a field gear collector, and have very little knowlege in this area.

The Straps were acquired from the son of a German vet and they were part of his uniform. I met this guy about a year ago by sheer luck and helped him go through his fathers things and sort them out.
Naturaly, I had intentions on buying the stuff cheap.
This guy's dad was about the biggest pack-rat I have ever seen. You could hardly walk through the upstairs of this house.

Anyway, he did collect lots of Militaria which he bought in the 50's & 60's and I got LOTS of great stuff at a very good price. (Brian will agree to that)

So when I am at this guys house, helping him dig stuff out of craw spaces, etc.. His Mom, the widow of the Vet tells us that he had his uniform in a zipper sack hanging up in the back of this attick. We dig it out, and along with his uniform, were these straps, and some equipment straps with his name on them. (Brian has these as well)
She said that these belonged with his uniform and had been in that case since they came here in 1949. And when you handle them in person you can see that they are quality made and have a nice patina to them.
Now I am not saying that it isn't possible that he aquired them in the 60's or something and threw them in that bag, but I tend to think they were his.
also, 90% of the stuff thisa guy had was purchased before 1965. We found a box of reciepts that would make you ILL. Like an MP40 for $50.00 in 1961, etc...
Anyway, that's where they came from. Form your own opinion.
