    Why so many oxygen masks?

Has anyone else noticed how many mint condition complete Luft. oxygen masks are now popping up for sale on ebay, dealers sites etc. Was there a batch recently found or is some scoundrel somewhere making new ones from scratch?

    Hi Ben,

I believe that Jos has already addressed the subject.

          Hi Ben,

Jos also has concerns regarding boxed LW flight googles that have recently been appearing. Or maybe a bunker somewhere in Germany has been discovered that has kept these items in perfect humidity and temperature for the past 60 years

          Best Regards,
          Bob

            Hi guys,

We all know many things are faked and from now on be very careful with flight stuff.
The masks in question are originals,I don't know of any fakes yet.
These masks are found and in most cases only the mouth piece, tube and springclamp survived.
Most springclamps are in bad shape and repro ones are on the market.
Same with elastic straps for the fightermasks.
For the bombermasks mainly gasmask straps are used and new faceflaps are added.
Concerning the mostly black rubber goggles, yes, they're reproduced and come in cardboard boxes with wrong label..

            Jos.

A nice mask with fake, but realistic elastic straps and a suspicious springclamp/hose clip..IMO.
Better pics would be nice, but it's not a textbook piece as far as I can see.
It's a nice one for display though, the chance of ever finding a nice textbook fightermask is very, very limited..

                Jos.

Thanks Jos, I did have some doubts. Bidders identity kept private is always a bit iffy as well IMO.

Looks like a dead ringer I got from Dan Potts on ebay; remember that debacle with him, Alex Downing and Aircraft Militaria?

I have noticed a few more on Ebay - at least one the seller said it was restored! Finally the truth!?

                        Hello,

there was a big groun dug rcovered of them in September. I saw personal more than 50, in good shape. And there are still more to come.
A few years ago nearly 1000 of them were disicovered at the former Luftzeugamt at pötenitz.

Do you have links to information that you speak of or maybe additional information you can post?

                            Hello,

the 50 (or maybe more) from September are seen by myself in Havelberg (one of Germany largest flea markets) . I guess some other members had seen them there. The guy had also much more ground dugs.
The ones from Pötenitz were found nearly 10 (?) years ago, but were in bad shape, most of the leather was gone and most them were sold restored, leather and springs added.....

                            Regards

                            Heinrich
