german boots

recieved a pair of unissued german boots, and guestion is, are they officers riding boots?
they dont have the leather flap above the heel to hold stirrup, but the curved edge of the bootleg?(I think I described it correctly )

well company "Rieker"(the maker) is still in business today and produces comfortable and "uglylooking" shoes... but these are real beautieshttp://www.album.ee/?o=316910733&page=1

also there seems to be evidence of cut leather flaps( that holds the stirrup)
But then again, were riding boots so "hobnailed"?
