MP 38/40 Pouch - Opinions Please!

    Hello All,

I know that the old hands are already rolling their eyes ("Oh, no. Not another one!"), but any opinions would be appreciated.

Nothing strikes my unpracticed eye as particularly amiss, but the stamp on the belt loop seems odd. It is stamped MP 40 and WaA103. I have only seen belt loops stamped with MP 38/40 or with no stamp at all. The 4 and the 0 are not perfectly aligned with one another, as if they were applied separately.

    Anyone care to comment?

    Kind regards,
    Hans

Not an expert but this one looks good to me! Perhaps for early MP40? Or perhaps original stamp had faded and someone decided to restamp? Let experts talk.

Thank you, gents, for your replies. Everything about the pouch seemed right to me, but I am no expert and I didn't want to make an A-Double-S out of myself by saying "Hey, I've got this great, original pouch with an odd stamp" and then be told it's a fake. Thanks again for putting my mind at rest.

If anyone has any thoughts on the stamp, I'd be interested in hearing them. I think Carles may be on the right track. The "MP 40" doesn't look factory applied; maybe the unit armourer just got bored one day and decided to mark it.

SF Mike, I'll get back to you if I change my mind!

Actualy I have my doubts about it. Look at the markings, how crude MP 40 stamping is, and this waffenamt ( not the best indicator ). Might happen that it was a good, unmarked example which somebody decided to pimp up with fake markings.

Pouch is absolutely original, i do however have doubts about the stamps...... but if the price is right , go for it, would be very nice on a mannequin

I cannot 100% say about the pouch, but the WaA stamp is definitely not original and thus I would refrain from this pouch at all.
