    Gas Mask Canister for Review

    Hi to all,

Is this pull strap original to this frn 44 gas mask container latch? Also, is it normal that it does not have its metal insert tube? The paint looks original to me but when I rub it with a tissue I see paint on it (see photo), should the paint be dried after 76 years, could it be paint fume?

    Regards, juno44

All fine and orignal. No problem with it at all.
Typical late war ( end stage of war ) gasmask canister from 1944/45.

        Hi anmarlodz,

Thank you for your quick reply, should I worry about the paint on the tissue?

        Regards, Juno44

Nice one! Any maker's marking on the cover of the inside lid? Does it have the "simplified" spare lens holder inside? (Like my 44/45 one pictured).

Nice....same maker as mine, but manufactured slightly earlier. Although mine is stamped "44", it has the simplified holder, as well as a totally flat hook for the catch.

                    Hi,

My only worry now is why is the paint rubbing off.

                    Regrads, juno44

Some nice late war canisters. Hard to find in this condition as 44/45 dated canisters are usually from lower quality.

Actualy I suspect that 'rlt' code ( not RLT - small letters not capital letters ) is late war code of 'ebu'.

I examined Juno-44's canister in hand and it appears original pre 45. The question is it normal that when rubbed with tissue paper that some paint residue appears on the tissue. Could it be paint fume that still comes off after 76 years from being sprayed? This cannister appears to have been never issued and is next to mint condition.

Thank you Anmarlodz for helping! It doesn't exist a lot of knowledge about those late war code for gasmask canisters. The lock is marked: frn 44 which is: Metallwaren Fabrik R. Lang Brandenburg, i supposed...
I know also this marking: mkq 44 which should be: Blechemballagenfabrik Josef Cerny & Sohn Lenesice/Böhme.
Any furthers informations are welcome! ;-))
