The stickgrenade is a fake. Thats for sure! It looks if it lays in the garden for a few months or so to get a old and used look.

    Greetings,

thats a well known fake. the RR's should always face away from each other. plus the ceramic pull cord ball is a give away too. the whole thing looks bogus when you've seen enough good ones. Glenn

Sometimes i wonder where it all begins, as to who knows its a fake, does the seller on ebay right now know its a fake, or was he tricked into buying a fake and selling it thinking its original, with this many people selling and buying fakes, someone ends up in then end believing its real, and sells it when the bills needs paying as such.

I think people just can't be bothered to work out whether its original or not Don't worry though it leaves the good stuff for you and me!

                    Matt,

I agree with you....but It really bothers me that the fakes are keeping the prices way up on the real stuff.

So many people use EPRAY as a research tool to find values ect on items they may want to sell. So someone goes on ebay & looks up "German Gernade" as sees they are getting $250+ and says "wow" im a gonna sell this and make some good $$. Half the time they are fakes or "cobbled up junk. I think that many of the sellers are honest folks who just dont know but there are alot of people out there who do know and are making good $$ selling fakes as legit items....and it not just on ebay.

I have watched one buyer/seller in Belgium who has been buying up all the stick grenade parts he can get his hands on. He then lists them as "Just found or totaly original" & he gets some serious $$ for them.

Now if you get down to brass tacks yes they are original ....but the are assembled from parts and for the most part are crap!. He puts in a nice story about how it has been in an old mans attic or has just been found on some WW11 battle field...makes me crazy.

All his auctions are private even his feed back is private so there is no way to warn potential buyers what they are getting into...very frustrating indeed!

I know it boils down to buyer beware and as the buyer you should educate yourself on what your looking for before you plop down your hard earned cash on anything.

I fee as part of the collecting comunity we should start ferriting out these knobs and giving them a hard time.

Im thinking of posting all the fake and questionable items I see so others can be warned and see just whats out there.....man is that going to stur the pot.

Anyone want to chime in on this idea?? I bet you guys are seeing a huge lot of stuff out there that is NFG.

wow, that would be quite a task as there is just an overabundance of b.s. on ebay listed everyday. I would say more than half of all pieces listed on ebay everyday are post war modified in some way or all out fakes. it would be a never ending quest unfortunatly. typically its a 7 day auction, I usually see enough opinions that I can trust with 2 days, if not 1 here on the forum to base my on. Anybody notice a trend by eBay sellers peddling fakes? There's often a long story which starts out "The guy I bought it from said"... followed by a paragraph recounting the names, dates, places and other fine details from a conversation that occurred a decade ago.

Me? Unless its something really unusual or unique, a year or two later I barely remember who I bought something from and what I paid for it. Sometimes I'm surprised I even have it in the first place.

In a few years some of the newer reputable dealers will be selling original fakes. :-(
