    Info on spade carrier

Hi, I mostly see these black with stitching(this one is brown with rivets), there is no markings on this. There is probably no way to tell the country of origin but can any of you gather any other info off of this like age, it seems quite old to me maybe ww1 or the 30's at the latest. I have seen pics of ww1 carriers with stitching.
    Thanks for looking

    Rick,

No idea of age, but that buckle is not standard Wehrmacht. The rivets MAY be a field reinforcement repair. Also, being brown, it could be from a few countries. LW and some pre-war gear was in brown, as was WW1 gear. Having said that, there is every possibility it WAS used by Wehrmacht troops either as captured equipment of pre-war issue. Hope this helps.

The standard is a single frame with roller and a leather or steel loop behind it. Kinda hard to explain. Can someone post a pic please?

I know the roller you are talking about, I thought maybe they added it in the 30s, this one seems similiar to mine......
