Just a clue...I noticed on your battery the top line reads EVP 2,40. This is very typical of EAST GERMAN marked items - the price was 2.40 East German Marks. I forget what EVP means, but my East German friend joked that it meant Eternal Value Price because prices hardly ever changed in the DDR. So far as I know, the voltage for such batteries is 1.5 volts. Only source I know of is for Swiss batteries for similar Swiss phones. The closest American equivalent that is 1.5 volts is a trifle too big to fit in the case, and it is very rare in itself...

but is dated 1945 which is excellent my main area of collecting items dated 1945 but this one si in slightly worse condition but i can still hear my little brother speeking from a room down the hall on it 
also i think they came with origional wartime? battries they are made by columbus and stamped made in germany so not post war?

i was wondering if you found out about the type of batteries the field telephone uses, i recently bought 2 but didnt get any batteries with them so im kind of in the dark as to the voltage and would love to get them working.

Sorry no i use an improvised battery and holder (from an old toy) useing the 2 wires to connect up

a single D cell battery will get them working, Then you have to wire them up, how many do you want to put together?. also when you get them, check the mouthpiece and earpiece to make sure the actual condensors are still inside the hand sets
.
i have a couple of repop battery holders in mine (D cell slips right in and they are already wired.
